It is with great pleasure that we welcome you - Alumni from Ghana, Kenya, and Liberia to our inaugural Alumni Network Gathering.

You will find below a detailed program of the event proceedings. This program will be updated if and when changes are needed to be made and as such would be wise to bookmark or save on your device. After the event we will share here the links to recorded session, panels and any documents shared or created.

We are thrilled to have each one of you with us and are looking forward to welcoming even more alumni in-person to future Alumni Network Gatherings.

2024 Alumni Network Gathering Program

Day 0

  • Description: Emerging Public Leaders welcomes you to Sportsview with an informal dinner to meet and greet with staff and fellow Alumni.

Day 1

  • Location: Victoria Restaurant

  • Description: All Alumni will be welcomed to the Inaugural Alumni Network Gathering with remarks from esteemed guests and directors.

  • Description: The country directors will provide Alumni with an introduction to their program and share their experience.

    Caren Wakoli - Executive Director, Emerging Leaders Foundation - Africa

  • Description: Alumni will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and their backgrounds.

  • Location: Victoria Restaurant

  • Description: Panelists will speak to innovations for good governance in the public sector as it relates to service delivery, resilience in public service, intergenerational gaps, Agenda 2063, and conflict resolution.

Day 2

  • Location: Victoria Restaurant

  • Description: During this session we will have a quick recap of Day 1 then Alumni will share the answer to the questions written on your index cards.

  • Description: Juliet will facilitate a discussion on the best practices of the fellowship program model and curriculum.

  • Tea break

  • Description: Juliet will continue the discussion from before the break and lead Alumni to draft a blueprint of future program best practices.

  • Location: Victoria Restaurant

    *Please take your lunch ticket.

  • Description: Richard Okai will welcome Alumni back and share a brief presentation on the vision for the Alumni Network.

    Dr. Sylvestor Obong’o will then facilitate a group activity where Alumni will be asked to share their experiences as Alumni and support the development of a framework for the Alumni Network.

  • Tea time

  • Description: This session will present case studies of successful alumni bodies to the Alumni and lead groups in a discussion to develop a structure and process for this new pan-African Network.

Day 3

  • Location: Victoria Restaurant

  • Description: Presenters will share insights for building a strong Alumni Network through strong professional networks.

    Shelia Agiti - Director of Alumni Engagement of African Leadership Academy

    Prof. George Scott - Secretary General of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM)

    Guests from People First Community

  • Health Break

  • Description: Alumni will review the interim executive positions for the alumni network and outline an action plan.

  • Location: Victoria Restaurant

  • Description: This session will announce the establishment of a chat room (WhatsApp, Linkedin, Facebook, or some social profile). Presenters will make closing statements and review the next steps for the Alumni Network following this gathering.

  • Buses will depart from the hotel to get to Safari Park Hotel at 4:30pm, 5pm and 5:30pm. (22 seats)

  • Description: A dinner hosted in honor of all Alumni!

    Location: Safari Park

    Dress: Formal or African

Day 4

  • Transport to Nairobi National Park and the Giraffe center will be arranged.

    Those who would like to come should sign up with Amanda.

    Cost is $50USD.
