Emerging Public Leaders (EPL) builds off the proven model of the President’s Young Professionals Program (PYPP) of Liberia. EPL works in-country with governments and other local partners to build a civic service fellowship program to place young local leaders in key government positions for two-year terms. EPL’s model harnesses the six key components that have made PYPP successful:
- Meritocratic and inclusive selection and recruiting
Continuous responsive training
Mentorship and supervision
- Annual immersion excursions
- Ongoing alumni engagement
EPL is currently pursuing expansion in several African countries chosen for their stability, democratic governments, existing mentor networks, and willing champions inside the government. Current priorities include Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Guinea, with other countries under consideration . You can read, download, and share our information sheet here (French version here).
